How Often Should You Clean Your Spa Bath Jets?

 

How often you clean your spa bath jets depends on how often you use your jetted tub. If it’s part of your daily relaxation ritual, a quick surface wipe-down after using it will help keep everything fresh. If it’s more of an occasional treat, a thorough clean once a month should be sufficient to keep your tub in great condition.

1. Rinse after every soak

After every soak, drain the water and refill your tub with cold water, making sure the level sits about 5 cm above the jets. Let the jets run for 5 to 10 minutes so fresh water can flush through the system. Once done, drain the tub again.

 

2. Light cleaning

Fill the tub with hot water, again making sure the level is at least 5 cm above the jets. Add two teaspoons of low-foaming disinfectant or a mild dishwashing powder. Switch the jets on for 5 to 10 minutes. After that, drain and refill the tub with cool water, covering the jets. Run the jets for another 10 minutes.

 

3. When a deeper clean is needed

Antibacterial spa cleaning is essential for hygiene. To deep clean the jets, fill the bath with water until it sits a few centimetres above the highest jet. Add a recommended spa-safe antibacterial solution or a mild household disinfectant suitable for spa systems. Run the jets for 10 to 15 minutes to circulate the solution. Drain the bath, refill it with clean water, and run the jets again for a short rinse cycle, flushing out any remaining residue.

 

 

 

4. Keeping filters unblocked

Cleaning the filters is just as important as flushing the jets. Filters trap hair and other debris, causing blockages and strain on the equipment. Remove the filter and rinse it thoroughly under running water. For a deeper clean, soak it in a dedicated filter-cleaning solution for several hours, then rinse again and make sure it is completely dry before putting it back.
